NodeJS now required for standalone version?

  • I just downloaded jsreport-win.zip release v4.11.0 from github, as the standalone single file windows executable. My understanding is that the single file version has no prequestites and NodeJS is not required. This is how I had been running jsreport until now with no issues.

However now I get the following message in the terminal:
jsreport cli requires to have installed a nodejs version of at least >=22.18 but you have installed version 18.15.0. please update your nodejs version and try again

Note that I don't have NodeJS installed at all, even though the message is reporting I have 18.15.0 installed.

I just tried the prior jsreport github release, v4.10.1, and it works fine without NodeJS.

    Is this intended behavior?

  • Hi,

Unfortunately, we don't provide a compiled version of jsreport in the latest release. There is a problem with the technology used for compilation. We will try to support the compiled versions again in the next release.

I've updated the release notes. I apologize for the confusion.

  • Understood, thank you for the quick response.
If I may suggest, perhaps a note can be added on the website download page as well:

  • Yes, thanks. Done...
