You can either use jsreport npm extension which is part of the official jsreport docker image. Or you can build your own docker image based on the official one.

I resolved the issue of exporting empty files by installing a compatible version of Node.js
However, I run into problems upgrading the app because the command line was installing Node.js in a global location. Our web app is using yet a different version of Node.js. So, I need to figure out how to install more than one version of Node.js in a single PC.

I found the root of the problem. This behavior is apparently related to the MS Edge browser. Since I decided to save my password the first time I launched the app and logged in, every time I load a sample template the "pdf-password" property is automatically filled with the save password used in the login screen. Once I deleted the saved password from the profile I no longer experience the problem. By the way, I tested in Firefox and Chrome also. These two browsers do not present the problem.
